Simulation Form

Previewing a toolpath shows what the finished job will look like by simulating each toolpath cutting into the material block, so you can check the result before sending it to the machine.

Watch tutorial: How to Preview Toolpaths

Previewing Toolpaths

Choose whether to preview All Toolpaths, the Selected Toolpath, or the Visible Toolpaths, then run the preview. You can either build a quick preview, or use the video-style controls to watch the tool cut in real time.

Playback Controls

  • Run / Pause — start and pause the animated simulation.
  • Single Step — advance one move at a time.
  • Run to Rapid — run up to the next rapid move.
  • Stop — stop and reset the simulation.
  • Speed — how fast the animation plays.
  • Draw tool — show or hide the cutting tool during the simulation.

Appearance

The machined surface can be shaded by Material Color, Surface Color, a Global Fill Color, Toolpath Color or as a Lithophane, with colour pickers for each. The resolution slider controls how finely the simulation is calculated.

Tip

If any of the toolpaths you choose to preview have not been calculated yet, you are prompted to calculate them first. Very small tools may not show up unless the simulation resolution is increased.
