Boolean Operations

Watch tutorial: How to Weld, Subtract and Overlap Vectors

Boolean operations combine two or more overlapping closed vectors into a new shape, treating each vector as a solid area. They are a quick way to build up complex shapes from simpler ones.

Weld

Weld merges the selected overlapping vectors into a single shape that follows the outermost edge of them all — the union of the shapes. Internal regions, such as the inside of the letter "O", are preserved.

Subtract

Subtract removes the area of the overlapping vectors from the last selected vector, cutting the other shapes out of it.

Keep Overlap

Keep Overlap keeps only the area where the selected vectors overlap — their intersection — and discards everything else.

Tip

Selection order matters for these operations. Select the shapes you want to act with first, then hold Shift and select the base shape last.
