Offset Tool
Watch tutorial: How to Offset VectorsThe Offset tool creates new vectors set at a fixed distance from your original selection — useful for adding a border, allowance, or clearance around a shape.
Using the tool
-
Select the vector(s) you want to offset.
-
Decide whether to offset in a single direction or in both directions, and set this using the direction button in the floating toolbar.
-
Click on one of your selected vectors and drag. A preview updates as you move, so you can see the offset take shape.
-
Release to create the offset.
Offsetting by a known amount
If you want to offset by a specific distance, begin dragging and then type the value. It appears in the floating input field next to the vectors. Press Enter to confirm.
Options
- Sharp Corners — keeps corners crisp and pointed rather than rounding them where the offset vectors meet.
- Keep Original — leaves the original selected vectors in place instead of replacing them with the offset.
- Select New — automatically selects the newly created offset vectors once the operation completes.
